Hardy Marketing/Human Resource Director Derek Barr presented EHHS Guidance Counselor Jennifer Strawderman with a $600 check Thursday, March 25, to help with the costs of purchasing student planners for the 2010-11 school year. It is the sixth consecutive year that Hardy, a business partner with the school, has contributed toward the cost of the planners.
“We certainly appreciate everything that Hardy Telecommunications does for us,” EHHS Principal Brad Simmons said. “Please send our thanks to everyone at your organization.”
Hardy consistently has stepped up to the plate to assist East Hardy High School, Simmons said.
“Hardy Telecommunications has always been the first to deliver when we’re in need,” he said.
Each EHHS student receives a free planner at the beginning of the school year. The planners also serve as the students’ handbooks and contain information such as school standards of conduct and graduation requirements.
The school purchased the planners itself in the past, but costs for the handbooks greatly increased. Since then, Hardy has assisted with the tab every year.
Derek, who also serves on East Hardy’s Local School Improvement Committee, said Hardy Telecommunications takes great pride in its relationship with the school.
“We know how important the planners are for the students, and we’re happy to do our part as a member of this community,” he said.
